The correct use of a breast pump includes finding a comfortable position, applying heat to the breast, installing the pump, starting to pump, observing and adjusting, and completing the pump.
1. Find a comfortable location
Choose a quiet and relaxing environment, sit up straight or recline, and place a pillow on your back to support your body, keeping your breasts and arms in a comfortable state.
2. Apply heat to the breasts
Gently apply a warm towel to the breasts for a few minutes to help soften the areola and make it easier for milk to flow out.
3. Install the breast pump
Assemble the cleaned and disinfected components to ensure tight connections and no air leaks.
4. Start breastfeeding
Gently press the nipple guard onto the breast to avoid excessive compression or pulling. Turn on the breast pump switch and adjust the suction size according to personal comfort and milk flow rate. Usually, the suction force should be gradually increased in the order of "low medium high" until the most suitable gear is found.
5. Observation and adjustment
During the process of breastfeeding, pay attention to observing the flow of milk and whether there is any discomfort in the breasts. If you feel pain or discomfort, you should immediately stop and adjust your posture or suction size.
6. Complete breastfeeding
When the outflow of milk decreases or the breast feels empty, the breast pump switch can be turned off and the nipple guard can be removed. Gently massage the breasts to help expel excess milk.
After each use of the breast pump, all components should be immediately disassembled and thoroughly cleaned with running warm water and mild detergent. Be careful not to use brushes or other hard objects to scrub sensitive parts such as nipple covers to avoid damage.
